Indre-et-Loire: The Creator of Poulettes Sisters, A Punk and Feminine Designer
Indre-et-Loire: The Creator of Poulettes Sisters, A Punk and Feminine Designer1. A stylist in ready-to-wear for fifteen years, Anne-Andréa Brochard launched Poulettes Sisters, a brand for strong-willed women. A meeting in her workshop in Saint-Avertin.
A hand making the horns sign (a symbol of hard rock fans), drawn in black and white, with the only touch of color being red nail polish. The Poulettes Sisters logo perfectly sums up its creator’s philosophy: a punk and feminine personality at the same time.
When launching her brand in 2021, Anne-Andréa Brochard won over thousands of women who, like her, want to combine femininity with a rock’n’roll attitude, embracing both high heels and loud music. The stylist first designed her logo on a simple pin. Since then, her drawings have appeared on about twenty different items: clothing, bags, mugs…
"The Right to Have Different Tastes"
It all started after COVID-19. "I had been working in men’s ready-to-wear in Paris for about fifteen years," says the stylist, a graduate of ESMOD. From 2007 to 2021, she managed men’s collections, focusing on sportswear. During this time, she regularly traveled to Asia to negotiate with suppliers. "I always tried to find solutions to limit the environmental impact as much as possible with the resources available, but money rules this industry."
Over time, and as fashion evolved, the designer no longer identified with the overproduction of collections. "We had to produce more and more models—it was absurd." Her last trips to Bangladesh finally convinced her to change paths. "When you see the working conditions, the lack of safety in the factories, it’s terrifying."
